What Could’ve Been
by: Jennifer Gladen

My life was important,
Who knew what I could be,
I could’ve changed the world,
And made it better for you and me.

I wish I had the chance,
To do what I was meant to,
Perhaps instead you need to hear,
What I now want to share with you.

I could’ve led the Church,
To explain the readings for us,
And help us get to know,
Our Lord Savior, Jesus.

Or donating all my extras,
Is where you might have found me,
Giving clothes, money or company,
To those who haven’t any.

I might have led our children,
with all they need to know,
And arm them with desire,
To always learn and grow.

I could’ve saved some lives,
By becoming a brilliant doctor,
Or by teaching the great rewards,
Of being an organ donor.

But my potential was greatly wasted,
When my mother went to choose,
The option we unborn heroes dread,
Our lives we had to loose.

My life was important,
Who knew what I could be,
I could’ve changed the world,
And made it better for you and me.
