Driftwood (lyrics)A Poem by Jene'eI put all my human feelings about other human beings on a boat the sailed around the world and sank into the sea and I found myself believing in nothing else but breathing as the tide she carried back to shore the pieces of me
And I can't forget the screaming as the boat fell into dreaming and as the bow she broke in two revealing her insides and the sharks devoured meaning from the pieces that were gleaming in the sunlight as it enveloped the ending of the day
and every one clung to the driftwood as she broke and every one was lost into the sea and every one clung to the pieces that would float and every one was lost from me
Well, in the moonlight it was seeming that all the waves were beating against the hull against the mast the sails waved one last time and the boat she finished sinking as the morning light was blinking and they found upon an empty shore the bleached and broken bones
and every one clung to the driftwood as she broke and every one was lost into the sea and every one clung to the pieces that would float and every one was lost to me
And I can't feel anymore and I won't feel any more I lost myself along the way I lost my love to the sea and I plead that she keep far away from me
And I can't describe the healing that I gained while losing feeling and I built myself some meaning as the message was repeating couldn't believe what they were seeing well, they were drowning while they were sleeping and I am free to wander now wherever I may roam
And everyone clings to the driftwood, and I'm broke and everyone is lost into the sea and everyone clings to the pieces that will float and everyone is lost to me and every one clung to the driftwood as she broke and every one was lost into the sea and every one clung to the pieces that would float and everyone will leave me. © 2012 Jene'e |
