bipolar weather

bipolar weather

A Poem by Jodelle

The wind collided with the summer.
The coconut shells basked in the joy
The wonderful echoes of laughter cased itself in
As the darkness of the chill barged it’s way in
It’s arms pushing, dragging its feet against the humid air
Clenching its wrist on the edges of the sun
.Shade.
Hands were burnt when the fire was built,
That was our only memory of the sun.
We were guided by the snowflakes
The acid white stones hailing itself high,
Falling hard against the sun-kissed skin
Melting much more than the splitting shells
Did into our fingertips when the monsoon came
And our survival was the only importance
In this game.
She was ruthless, powerful, larger than land could contain
She spat her anger, shouted her anguish
Our once safe shores united with her, distressingly
We sat there like seeds drowning in the water
Waiting to grow.
But we never did.
The birds hid
But we never did

Because we were forgiving, the seeds that drown.
