Romantic Cliches

Romantic Cliches

A Poem by Jen

Life is full of chocolate and a stream of dancing feet

And smiles thought to be lost in the wilderness emerge

Games and youth don’t wait to be invited; they appear

And songs with cliché sentiments introduce themselves

The meaning to every ballad ever written smiles at me

As  if it had been personified in the deep oceans of your face

That moves my body to sway like the rough waves; makes

My fingers clutch at your heart, your soul; I try to touch them

I am not satisfied until I rest safely in your arms, your eyes

The day may creep like a thousand years and a hundred more

But I would have waited a million of these days if the universe

Promised that we would be exactly as we are, in this cliché moment
