Gentleness Ran Out

Gentleness Ran Out

A Poem by Jen
"

Truth be told, this is an angry piece of writing and probably not one of my best. I may decide to remove it later, but for now writing it has provided a little therapy.

"
Blew a hole in my head that my heart couldn't stop
And I waited for you to become more merciful
Like a lion the kill was made and the carcass dragged
Something more broken than angry, more skinned than cut

My teeth flew, and I spit them out with fiery determination
I stood on my legs and made an honorable motion
To end the repetitive evil which sounded in my head
But evil knows no honor and you struck like a viper

Soon I could see that life put a bitter taste in your mouth
That you spewed onto the world like a vomited venom
Prisms of anger have gouged your eyes and through them
You see everything as if the storm had covered it

Who looks into mournful, broken eyes and smashes
The barely beating heart poorly hidden behind them
An open heart with no protection but kindness that
You saw as weakness and tore apart like a rabid dog
