Devouring Suffocation

Devouring Suffocation

A Poem by Jen

Hungry beast

mouth half open

salivating

desiring

frightening the little

cat

Spoiled child

hands clenched tight

around the writhing

wild bird

you seek to

hold

The cat will run

The bird is frightened

The cat will bite

The bird will peck

But the beast has eaten

the cat

and the child has strangled

the bird

Too late

Too late

Too late
