Two Fortune Tellers

Two Fortune Tellers

A Poem by Jen

Two fortune tellers

Different

As night from day

Told me strange things

About you

The first said

Our time was empty

Hope was ended

You are not

serious

You are not

there

You would leave me

Stranded in the desert

Parched, dried up

Empty

Like a white tree

Despite all your signs

But you would call

On Tuesday

The second said

You thought of me

As I think of you

She said you were

Faithful

A true heart

Potential

You think of me as you wake

You dream of me

When you sleep

And in me you saw

The secrets of

Your universe

And you would call

On Wednesday

But I

I am the third fortune teller

And all the future

Is my own
