Broken Angel

Broken Angel

A Poem by Jennifer Venter

A broken angel fell to the ground

still wearing a smile

she picked up her chin

and faced the world, with a slightly scared grin

“Even if my wings are ripped

A flight would be much easier”

she whispered softly in the angel tongue

to the devils that tugged at her feet

It is amazing that so many people have the gift of writing short powerful pieces of art. It is a gift that I really do nothave but I hope to acquire. This was such a great write. You have a very special rythmn with your poetry. Again something i wish to possess. Thanks for creating and sharing. I must read on.

It is very true, this short poem has so many meanings, not only in religion but in everyday circumstances.

I enjoy short poetry and like this! I like the "still wearing a smile"!! it really delves into the character of the angel same as "and face the world, with a slightly scared grin"...It makes her courage and melancholy emanate very strongly!! Honestly, the poem could apply to so many life situations and really portrays both a sense of futility (maybe?) and also valor!! I really like it!
