The Letter

The Letter

A Poem by jen -- JG
"

A letter from a mother to her son..................

"

The Letter

Hello my darling son,

This letter comes from my heart

just to say I love you.

The day you came into this world

was the best day of my life

You were so wide-awake, so alert

So knowing

Almost as if you knew everything that was,

now is and ever could be in the future, then

Your tiny fingers clung to mine and our eyes locked.

This letter is for you my darling son.

Just to let you know how very proud I am of you

Of all you have done, everything you have achieved

The wonderful, exciting places you have been

and the wonderful things you have seen.

Believe me my darling son

My heart and love walked with you

every step of the way

My darling son

I cried when they took you away from me

But I was told ‘It’s for the best!"

It may have been the best for you

But never in a million years

Was it any good for me.

Someone else became your mother

And I am grateful for her

That she gave you her love

And she cared for you

The way I would not be able to.

But no matter how much she loved you

She could never feel for you

as I did

the day you were born

and as I still do.

Remember

the one you call mother my dearest son

The one who cared for you and

Who fed and clothed you

Giving you her love.

But also remember me.

I remember you my dearest darling son

And I always will!

Please remember that I always loved you

And only did what I thought was best

To give you a better chance

Remember me my darling son

Remember me as the mum

Who gave you life

But let you go

So you could

live!.

Please

Remember I love you

Please

Remember me.

All my love

Your other mum

What a heartfelt poem of love for your child.

A very touching and lovely handling of a subject that poses such a turmoil of feelings even if the choice was very sensibly made. Beautiful.

This is wonderful. I can't begin to know what it feels like to give a child up but this poem was very beautiful. Great write!

Awww... I love this... It brought tears to my eyes, and I'm not a cryer...

This must be so close to your heart...I can't even imagaine. Very touching and sad...surprising even because at first you don't see it coming that the son had to be given up. Beautiful. It has a lonely quality about it. A softness, not a torrent of emotions but a soft yearning, a small hope and plead to be remembered. Haunting.

What a heartbreaking poem. A mother gives up her beautiful treasure to ensure a better life for the babe. A difficult choice and very well put into emotions here. Sad but wonderful to read!

I am sitting here with tears running down my face. This is heartbreaking.and shows that you are a strong person and have great love for your child. This would have to be the hardest thing in the world for a mother to do. I don't know if your son knows you are his mother or not but I hope he knows just how much you loved him and what strength it took to let him go.

Thank you for sharing this. I can see the tear stains left as you wrote this.

awww... sad piece. the beginning started with such hope, and then we realize that she has to let him go... ::sigh::

it's a little scattered- there's some empty words or phrases there that probably are not needed, either because they're too trite, or just dont hold enough meaning to really tie us tangibly to the emotions.

but overall, teh flow went well... and the piece came to a nice little circle... didn't leave the reader hanging. such sweet sentiments.. bittersweet, though.
hugs

OMG! Jen, this was heartbreaking to read, very emotional, I imagine many mothers have had these same thoughts as they remember the child that they gave away for a better chance at life, It takes alot of love for a mother to do this, you have expressed this heartbreak so very well with your words. Nice write
