My Friend
Once I had a girly friend Knew we’d be together to the end The fun we shared we should never dared But thirteen-year-olds never cared So long as fun was there.
My girly friend and I soon found Our beauty - brought the boys around Their eyes soon glazed, and as they gazed On beauty - they thought rich and rare The girly friends – just did not care.
Girly friend - a woman grown Seeds of love have long been sown. Forgotten how - with children now I managed on life’s rocky road Childhood friend - just shared the load.
A bumpy ride for all concerned Some cannot handle truth now learned A fearful thing, -- now - no hearts sing The deepening darkness soon holds sway This thing - now takes my friend away.
"Time heals all," the people say I wish that they’d go -- far way. Just leave me be- need time for me Don’t need the pity – just the hand Of friends - who truly understand!
Oh. God! ……………..I miss ………………………... my floaties!
