Trickle

Trickle

A Poem by jen -- JG
"

for children -- about a cat had to earn his dinner.................

"

Trickle

Trickle was a ginger cat

Who couldn’t catch a mouse.

He loved to curl up on his mat

Or sleep inside the house

One day his master told him

"you are just a lazy cat

and feeding you is quite a sin

you are getting much too fat."

His words made Trickle very sad

As he chased a bee in the dirt

It stung him and he felt quite bad

With all his feelings hurt.

"I’ll have to catch a mouse" he thought

"but I really don’t know how,

that’s something I wasn’t taught

but I guess I must learn now."

At last he caught a small grey mouse

And put it on his mat

His master came out of the house

And said " You clever cat!"

Now Trickle is a ginger cat

who really is much thinner

he loves to curl up on his mat

when he is not hunting dinner.

My son would be too young for this, but my daughter is of a good age. I think it depends on the child though. Some children are sensitive to the "laws of nature".

Yes definitely suitable for kids. I work with 7 - 11 year olds and I know some of the younger ones would love it. Write more!
