The Saki Song

Had a little too much home made Saki one night and came up with this ---

 

 

The Saki Song

 

Saki isn’t too bad you know

        If you just want a little drinko

Once you get past the shudders

        It tends to make you stinko

Its texture is kind of smoothly rough

        But it makes your eyes go blinko

Saki is made from fermented rice

        You can eat it with your drinko

But should you have too much at night

        Next day you’ll puke in the sinko

An unpretentious little piece.

In reading it aloud I imagine a pause immediately before the final word in each even line. It dresses up the presentation a bit, I think.

Jen, this is fun...find myself wishing I knew the tune, or knew music well enough to come up with my own tune. This is very clever and flows as I would expect a bar song to flow. In my mind, I can just see and hear a bunch of guys, maybe after a rugby match, or Australian rules football, three sheets to the wind, holding up their little porcelain cups of saki in toast (one holding the bottle), arms around each other's shoulders, boisterously belting out this song in a pub.
