I read this because I saw "tattoo".
Excellent piece, in which you don't have to tell us what it is your talking about with Death Tattoo, the meaning speaks loudly enough on it's own.
Excellent job telling us exactly what it is, without being gruesome.
Well done!!!
Pretty cool. I like that through out the entire verse, you never bluntly state what the "Death Tattoo" is. Makes the mind have to work a little more to imagine it for youself based only on the feelings portrayed in the poem.
Not capturing essence of what you're saying, it seems to me to be a list of macabre adjectives without a unifying theme. Sometimes I just don't undestand things.
Wow, very cool poem, Jen. This one invited several re-reads to glean all of your thoughtful nuance. You captured well (I think, never having experienced it first-hand) what I imagine it might be like those last few moments on the gallows, inside the condemned's mind.
I enjoy reading, writing and watching movies. There are two adorable cats in our household who give us much pleasure.
i enjoy writing poetry of most kinds, rhyme - open verse - and often anything a.. more..
