If Only

If Only

A Poem by jen -- JG
"

Sometimes we just can't find the words --- - edited to correct the title spelling

"

If Only

I could speak of many things

why a moth flies straight to flame,

why only some clouds carry rain.

I could speak of butterfly wings:

If only ------- I had the words.

I could describe the setting sun

the laughter of children at play,

their drowsy tantrums at end of day.

I could describe what they call -- fun:

If only --------I had the words.

I could tell you how I feel,

how your absence breaks my heart

and I only exist -- while we're apart.

I could tell you my love is real:

If only ---------I had the words

I could speak of love so true,

my deepest feelings I could not hide,

they hold me forever by your side.

I could speak of love ---- with you:

if -- only ---- I had --- the words.

even as writers there are so many times when words escape us ...either in life or in our writing. I think as writers we feel this loss more keenly....even when we are speaking. One little thing..typo in the title - Onley should be "only" lol. nice job.

The sentiment of this is lovely and it is structured well. Nicely done. Best wishes, Bethlynne.
