She Stares.A Poem by Jem SagcalA fashion boutique down this corner, Women stare in such fluttery wonder, As he steps foot, this suited man, Handsome smile, a bouquet in hand, A lovely smile, she stares with intent, Oh this man who comes by, again and again, He has taken her heart bit by bit, Such a romantic gesture, how intimate, He stares into this silent woman's eyes, Not for long, for he passes her by, He hands the roses to a young clerk, Standing by the register, everyday at work, The silent woman's smile can't sway, Though the pain can never go away, The man you love has gone to another, No tears, she can't surrender, Such sadness, she can never shove, Oh the poor thing; A mannequin in-love.
