A Friends Apology

I hope you can find it in you to accept my apology

 

My eyes are on fire and my throat is quite dry

My chest is heavy this I cannot deny

 

My actions offended you I know

I am ashamed even if it does not show

 

I have no excuse this I know to be true

Know that if I could my fault I would undo

 

Like most I am plagued with great weakness

Sometimes I end up giving in to carelessness

 

What I did was irresponsible clear as day

But believe me my intent was not to betray

 

Your friendship is very precious to me

Given my conduct I know that is hard to see

 

It will not happen again this oath I swear

An enduring promise to you I declare

 

To ask this of you I know I have no right

Still I hope you consider this piece that I write

 

Forgiveness I ask of you my dear friend

I hope you accept this apology I have penned
