Vanificato (White Moth's Frustration)

Vanificato (White Moth's Frustration)

A Poem by Tymothy L Smith

There is a white moth that clambers about

smacking its head incessantly against my window

it hasn't stopped for days

He can fly about anywhere in the house

I open the blinds so he can stop hurting himself

but always back to the window

Though he must know by now

that there is something there

though he can't see it

A force that is not yielding

no matter how hard he rams his body into it

Still he tries

and tries

and in this perhaps he is teaching me

As I sit here

absently

watching his unyielding tantrum

obsessing on the perfect life I'm not living
