Everywhere Home
A Poem by Nyu
I used to write about feeling unreal,
And these magical moments of "becoming real" again, how magical, astonishing.
I used to try so hard to feel real, to be seen. To be real.
I used to try so hard that I did feel it. Placebo.
I laugh now reading old works, how foolish but forgivingly hopeful.
Now I am used to myself, just being really, nothing astounding. Even before I knew it, I had placed my trust in you. Leaving my home to join you. Leaving behind what I told you was a sacrifice.
But no. Now I am home. Belonging to the present, savoring my life, not looking to manipulate towards a special moment. I am loved by you, and it pulls me into place every day.
I work the job I've wanted since 13. I feel real calling, the difference I make, I matter, but even that, Doesn't feel as good as belonging with you.
When you enter our home,
I am home.
With you.
Wherever you go,
You are home to me.
Wherever I go I carry this warm, light, glowing feeling,
In your eyes, in your hands, in your smile, it emanates and warms me.
In all my faked realities, manipulated thoughts, hopes and grasps at freedom,
until you,
I knew but flickers,
Now I meld into a strong warmth and feel (the) light again.
Nothing but being here at home,
With you,
