wrong place, wrong time

wrong place, wrong time

A Poem by jen

when i read those words
i felt the rush of adrenaline
that feeling that really has no name
a surge of lust, longing and languished lurching
lost in daydreams,
and full flights of fancy
i just was in the wrong place
living in the wrong time
when i thought of you
your carefully chosen pose
your perfectly placed hands
the wayward smile
and averted eye
me, fumbling, foraging
focused but not finding you
i was looking in the wrong place
i was thinking in the wrong time
acknowledging what i wanted,
greeted by a bittersweet bite of understanding
my heart had wanted to sing a song
composed of words that i had known and loved
the music didn't fit
and so
the composing, i did quit
my heart sang a song
off key
in the wrong place
a sentimental song
offered at the wrong time

You wrote this with such skill and fluency... The central idea is a familiar one but you make it live with your images and alliterative diction like 'fumbling, foraging, focused but not finding you'. Sometimes we are in the wrong place at the wrong time; other times the confluence just happens...

Nice flow. Several really nice word choices....foraging, wayward, etc. Missed opportunies in love. The words didn't fit with the music. Wrong place, wrong time!
