past lives, next lives and the tangoA Poem by jen
she listens to rollicking songs
full of life and emotions she has never experienced first hand she reads the thoughts and she dreams on the adventures in the books she buys by the stack she watches safely from her couch the risks and rash decisions the romantic declarations and accidental rendezvous' on the television screen and realizes that she lives the life of an emotional voyeur too timid to seek out her own adventures too shy to sing the songs over beers and cigarettes too far gone to happen upon a rendezvous and wonders about the next life the past life what has been and what will be but not this time for now she listens and sings along in the car on the way to work and daydreams about the tango and liaisons and adventures she finds comfort in the steady hum of everyday while promising herself the next time things will be different © 2021 jenAuthor's Note
