'Story of My Life'
Being the baby four I found myself competing to be noticed Mark was the football player and artist. Lawrence was the smart one. Marie being the only girl. But we managed to consist. At the age of five. My world came Undone. I had to make a choice. My mom and dad had grown apart. They were ready to let their marriage go. When tear filled eyes I layer in bed. I had to choose who I wanted to live with. How could I choose. I wanted to be with both of them. Falling asleep As a tear rolled down my cheek. My life was thrown into fastfarward Life was getting better. I wasn't expecting Anything that could change my life As I stepped onto the bus. But there you were. Just sitting there. A new face. Anger in your eyes. Trying to get you to smile. Who would have thought. Me getting pushed from my own seat. Would change my life for the better. I seen a smile in your eyes. When I refused to give up. You decided I was worth your attention. Life began to fly by. Filled with laughter and tears. Battling for our friendship Assisted any who tried to end it. You seen me beaten and broken. I seen you quickly falling. We became each others strength. Then I came undone. That day that my world came crashing down. If it wasn't for you. I would not be here today. My dad said goodbye to all the pain he has endured for so long. He was free to fly. You helped me stand . When standing was hard to do. Then you left. But I don't blame you. I seen all the blame and pain you went through. I never blamed you. I have always understood. I lived that life to. Closing my eyes. Time rushed by. We changed. But always stayed strong. And now here we stand. Miles apart. Talking about the past. And our crazy lives. While planning the future. Letting our imagination get the best of us. Looking back I can't help but smile. This is my journey. This is The Story of My Life. And I am forever blessed that our paths crossed. As we travel through life. Side by side. © 2014 Jeffery Hayes |
