Blue SunshineA Poem by Jeff BreseeMy bags have all been packed for me. The driver waits impatiently...The words have fallen silent now and dreams passed away. The pills have taken over and I don’t know what to say.
My bags have all been packed for me. The driver waits impatiently. Not car nor driver fits this mystic land. The hallway doors each filled with they who’s eyes plead out for me to stay, it hurts to see they do not understand.
I never will forget my time amongst these friends of song and rhyme. They’ll always hold a place inside my heart. But time has passed, I’ve given in and let the pressure finally win - “You have to fix the world you tore apart.”
And so, I tread this path I took. Once in the car a final look - such hidden beauty few shall ever know. Then view dissolves to rising dust. A cold inside, a stagnant must, another pill will get me where I go.
Yes, words have fallen silent now. No longer is there rhyme. No longer is there light except… the light of blue sunshine. © 2024 Jeff Bresee |
