As I Am Seen

As I Am Seen

A Poem by Jeff Bresee
"

I wish I had the simple means...

"

What do the heavens think of me?

When God looks down what does he see?

What things run through his mind and fill his heart?

Beholding one who once was there,

now forging through this world of care

and struggling everyday to find his part.

Is he proud of me as his son?

All his affections have I won?

Or have I not lived up to all his will?

I wish I had the simple means

to see myself as I am seen,

and know if expectations are fulfilled.

But though I don’t know everything,

I know enough for reasoning

that God has always sought what’s best for me.,

and though I stammer and I fall,

and second guess, and doubt, and stall

I know it’s my potential that he sees.

And thus I cannot help but feel -

I wish to me he would reveal

his view from up above so very keen.

Then I would fully understand

how precious to him that I am.

If I could only… see as I am seen.
