Miracles

Miracles

A Poem by Jeff Bresee
"

The Savior walked on water. The Savior raised the dead. The Savior healed the blind and lame and then the Savior said -

"

The Savior walked on water.

The Savior raised the dead.

The Savior healed the blind and lame

and then the Savior said -

that those who would believe in him

could do such things and more.

So, I am left to wonder

what he meant when he implored -

to follow in his footsteps.

To do the things he did.

For I have not done anything

to measure to that bid.

And so, I sit and ask myself -

where have I gone astray?

Should I take his words literally

or perhaps another way?

For it would seem that there

are very many people who

have faith in him that’s strong

and yet no miracles they do.

And so, I sit and wonder -

why no miracles do I see?

Then comes to mind the spirit’s voice,

whispering to me.

“The scripture means just what it says.

The answer to your “why -

no one works a miracle when…

they never even try.
