watching you sleep

for my daughter... 2mo. today

lying in my arms i watch you drift off to sleep.
small smiles play across your lips, your face capturing the innocence of youth
a beautiful reminder of the love im given
so small but worth more than words,
i kiss your forehead, never wanting or dreaming of giving you up,
already you've made a tremendous impact on my life, but i realize i wouldn't change it for the world
everytime you look at me my heart skips a beat with your beautiful face
watching you dream i can only wonder at what could cause such contented sighs
your little hands hold on tight, wrapped around my finger...wrapped around my heart
your growing up day by day and time just flies
but i love this moment, you resting with me dreaming, you in perfect peace
i wont wake you i'll just watch you sleep and hold you tight
