Who We Are

Who We Are

A Poem by Jeannie
"

Another poem about my friend who is going into the Marines. I realize, I'm posting a lot tonight o.o

"

Come sit with me
Or let’s take a walk
For hours, and hours
Just so we can talk

I’ll tell you about my yesterdays
You’ll tell me about your tomorrows
Laugh, smile, feel free
We can forget about our sorrows

But isn’t that what friendship is all about?
It took too long for ours to start
I start to give you some of my trust
I trust you not to break it apart

If I told you one thing to remember
Let this be what you take:
Who you are is not who you were
Don’t punish yourself for your mistakes

We have come a long way
Away from our pasts
Don’t forget me when you’re gone
I won’t lose you this fast

When I’m studying my days away
And your distance is so far
Forget who we were
Remember who we are

Thank you :) I will be!
There's a simple profundity to this most heartfelt poem...it is everything friendship should be loyal yet willing the other to take flight even if that makes seperate lives.
