A Clown's Journey to CanterburyA Poem by JeannieThis was an assignment from my English class last year. We had to add another person to The Canterbury Tales and describe him like Chaucer would in the modern times. XDAnd there was a clown who came from far
away He was entertaining, but a bit
obnoxious, I might say Hiding behind the face paint, he was a
man of thirty five Never had a child; never had a wife Being silly is all he could do to pass
his days The best part, he said, is that he can
still get paid His red nose would squeak when squeezed I swear the ground would shake whenever
he would sneeze A beast of a man; over six feet tall With huge feet and an even bigger jaw He could never stay serious, not in one
conversation And claimed that this pilgrimage to
Canterbury was his vacation He would tell us stories about his “party
days” in Clown College I’m sure that school is where he
obtained all his knowledge His favorite was about his first kiss
with a mime He must have told us that one over a
thousand times Although this clown came here on a whim It might be fun journeying with him © 2013 JeannieReviews
