Story of a Hero

Story of a Hero

A Poem by Jeannie
"

I actually wrote this in the middle of one of my classes. It was for my friend who was just sent to boot camp for the Marines. I never got the chance to give it to him :/ one of my rhyming poems.

"
The winter days go by so fast.
Our teenage days are soon to pass.
I refuse to say goodbye,
It is only a "see you later".

I hope you spend your tired nights
With memories of your hometown on your mind.
No matter how far you are from home,
You will never be alone.

You'll discover the same starry sky
Just look and listen, don't close your eyes
These stars may be far away,
But they are possible to reach.

And even on your lonely days,
No one could ever be as brave.
Your scars have taught you much, my friend.
I know you're growing stronger
Promise that you'll never give in.

A very well written piece. There's a lot of sadness in there, but also hope. Great job!

Enjoyable. I have a friend who is currently deployed and this reminds me of him.

Thank you. I'll miss my friend terribly, but he's a brave man for doing this
