Heads In the Clouds

Heads In the Clouds

A Poem by Jeannie
"

Written about a month ago. I was feeling inspired after bonding with an old friend. Not one of my favorites.

"
It's like lying under the stars after a storm
After the ground becomes peaceful and dry
Just trying to decipher the cloud's shapes
You become fixated on one cloud when there are plenty of others
You glance at another cloud with a different shape
Then you look back at the cloud you were so intrigued with
Just to realize that it has vanished

It's like you pay attention to the wrong affair for so long
You're determined, fixated on getting the prize
Then you see something else that captures your attention
It consumes you
And like the clouds, you look back and see your admired masterpiece is gone

It's like life
We all misspend our time concentrating on the fundamentals
And we get lost so much with that..
When we glance back, the little, simple element is gone
Whether it be a person, place, or thing.. It's nonexistent
Never to take that form again

Take your time and focus on what you want, but
Don't dismiss from mind the beauty of the simple things
Just like a cloud's shape
