The Encounter

The Encounter

A Poem by Norma J. Jessee

I noticed the eyes

of a young man

fixed on me.

As I stood motionless

in the grocery store.

While watching me

he talked to a fellow worker,

and stacked cans on a shelf.

As he skillfully

stacked the cans,

I realized his reason for staring.

His eyes

were searching

into my eyes.

Strangers stare

and gaze into

each others eyes.

Don't turn away !

Your eyes are like starlights,

Hopelessly hoping

for what cannot be.

Fearlessly fearing

What could set us free.

I watch him

watching me.

Two strangers,

yet, so close.

It's moments like these that make your world just a little bit brighter and the hert beat just a tiny bit faster.
these are moments that make our day sparkle and keep a secret smile in our hearts.

Well written and holds that special moment very well.
