Norma I have often thought of that myself, to really fly not just in our thoughts, but we do feel freedom without having wings, this is a nice thought, a call to natures freedom and all the beauty that we can see everyday just looking through our windows.

I often wished to be free like a bird. I like this piece. Its sweet. I think you have written something many people can relate to!
There is a lovely, almost childlike, simplicity to this that is aided by the amount of single syllable words you use. The first three lines all being single syllables. One can imagine a child looking up at the sky asking
'Oh why, oh why, Can't I fly ?'' I also like the way you use this line as a refrain.
I've actually asked myself this question several times. lol. I'm currently writing my first novel, and that seems to be quite the topic in it. I adore this poem. Wonderful piece that skillfully expresses The question we ALL ask at one point or another. LOVE THIS!

Oh, I love this! Do you think poets were another race in ages past who had wings and the ability to soar? Maybe we just inherited the desire from Daedalus who wanted so badly to fly that he patched together feathered wings with paper and tar.
Norma, as I was reading this, I just kept thinking, yes, that feeling would be so blissful and exhilarating at the same time. No worries, just free. A great write, my friend!!!
I am a 57 year old, happily married, mother of 4, who have blessed me with 12 grandchildren. I find a lot of my inspiration comes from my grandchildren. who can provide an endless supply of things to .. more..
