In this world where disputes arise over issues such as territory, sovereignty, resource, or ideology, and if a peaceable resolution fails, is not sought, or is thwarted, war often results.
Your composition encapsulates the essence of truth, in the realisation, that war is a lose/lose scenario!
An emotional and poignant write! Thank you for the reminder.
This is a very moving poem simply stated. The shape and short lines work really well.
I weep for the pain,
the suffering of the people.
And yes war hurts both sides, albeit, the loss of life in recent conflicts hasn't been equal. General Tommy Franks stated that 'We don't do body counts' which is the reason that the data base Iraq Body Count was set up. http://www.iraqbodycount.org/ The count encompasses non-combatants killed by military or paramilitary action and the breakdown in civil security following the invasion. To date the documented figure of civilian deaths is 81,467 88,933. And a great many of these will be children.
If only the governments on both sides would sit up and take notice of the words right here....this is a universal write.....there is something to be said about loss on both sides....I bet neither country cares, nor thinks about it.
Oh, a compassionate plaint with so much feeling ... we are all connected to what happens here on our little Planet, and you show that here with this well stated Poem... writeous write Norma
I have a shirt that I wear quite often. With a picture of Jesus on it and under him it say "War Hurts". That is such a true statement. War effect everyone in some way. Which in itself is a sad reality. This is another wonderful piece. I appreciate you sending this my way.
I am a 57 year old, happily married, mother of 4, who have blessed me with 12 grandchildren. I find a lot of my inspiration comes from my grandchildren. who can provide an endless supply of things to .. more..
