The Arms Of A Stranger

The Arms Of A Stranger

A Poem by Norma J. Jessee
"

Nothing personal. Just lyrics I wrote.

"

In a dark and smokey bar room

With a man I hardly know.

I let him buy me a drink;

Because I feel so low.

Well my glass is empty now,

But he fills it just once more.

Till the loneliness inside me,

Leads me out the door.

( Chorus )

In the arms of a stranger,

I'll play the cheating game.

A game I'll never win,

But I'll play it just the same.

I don't even know his name,

But into his arms I run,

For the arms of a stranger,

 Are better than none.

In the room of a motel,

On the other side of town.

I toss my morals to the wind,

As I let him lay me down.

He wraps his arms around me,

And he eases all my pain.

Oh, the arms of a stranger,

I'll never see again.

Sounds terrific and like all lyrics I want to hear it sung and played, I'll send it to my son Mat for review, he's a singer/songwriter/musician.
I love the words Norma, they are well placed and the rhyming is excellent xxx How are you faring with the new format?

Norma, this was sooo great. I can almost hear it as a country type of song. I don't know why but this reminded me of a Kenny Rodgers song, Lucille (Don't ask me why though) He he
Although she doesn't actually goes as far as to leave her husband.boyfriend.

I really enjoyed this, feeling her emotions as she throws all caution in the wind, seeking some comfort in a strangers arms, which sometimes I think is a lot easier than getting into a long emotional relationship

*There are two spaces after the "a" in the second line of the chorus. (Those things bug me, I'm a typesetter and proofreader.)*

I really like this one for how simply it displays the feelings of being so down and crushed emphasizing them directly. a agree with the person before that said, "when I read it I was hearing it in my head as a soft rock ballad" as I did exactly the same thing.

I see a real sadness in this... I'm not sure if that was implied or it's just me.

Another great tune... send it on to Nashville, Norma!

I love this. Many have said they feel a country song here, when I read it I was hearing it in my head as a soft rock ballad. I love the flow of all your pieces, you have true talent!
