You're The One ( Who's On My Mind )

You're The One ( Who's On My Mind )

A Poem by Norma J. Jessee
"

Nothing personal, Just lyrics I wrote

"

He's the one who holds  me gently,

When we're alone at night.

He's right there when I need him

To make sure I'm all right.

He's the one who understands me,

When I've been unkind.

He's the one I'm holding now,

But you're the one who's on my mind

(chorus)

You're the one who's on my mind,

The one I want to hold.

You're the one who keeps me going,

The fire that's in my soul.

He's the one who's here with me,

You're the dream I'll never find.

He's the one who really loves me,

But you're the one who's on my mind.

He's the one who stands by me,

When everything goes wrong.

He's the one who keeps me laughing,

The music in my song.

He's the one I can depend on,

Anywhere and anytime.

He's the one I'm married to,

But, you're the one who's on my mind.

This is an incredible piece! The wonderful thing about this poem is it could mean something different for everyone. I am not a big poetry person, but this is a wonderful work of art. I love the form of the poem itself, and it flows very nicely. Great job! I hope to read more like this!

Oh Norma very well spoken lyrics... it's hard when you love someone who is your heart but be with someone else in body... I could also see this as a hit country song.

Fabulous, soul searching confession, and could apply to any number of people. Great lyrics - I'd love to hear it sung. I suppose it's what is called the 'country' tradition, and this is a great example of the genre.
Just one repeat typo - in the title, and in the final line of each verse, 'whose' should be 'who's'. (Who's being the contracted form of 'Who is'. Whose = belonging to).

Wow, I just love this and it would make great lyrics for a song. the format is perfect and you have expressed volumes with this piece.

Alas, my dear Norma, we've just met so I know who it cannot be.
But I did write a poem just for you, and it's my feature piece.
You know, there's one thing that Willie Nelson and I have in common... we love all the girls, now and before.

That was beautiful. Is it fiction?

Very beautiful piece. Seems to me like someone who has everything they could possibly need or want but who craves something more. I guess we all as humans have experienced that kind of thing in some form or fashion. Great job!

Ah, the big choices of the heart ... choices between whom one should love and whom one does love? ... this torn between the two is so painfully evident here! xxx

strange that we seem to look and love those who don't love us or who we can not have and feel traped and run from those who really do care....i love this peice and it is so true
