The Moon

The Moon

A Poem by Norma J. Jessee

That big old moon up in the sky,

Last night at me he winked his eye,

His face was filled with so much glee;

I don't think he meant for me to see.

He smiled a funny little grin,

There was a dimple in his chin,

He kissed me with his golden beam;

And spun for me a happy dream.

He sprinkled stardust in my hair,

The scent of flowers filled the air,

Then he said good-night to me;

And shone above for all to see.

I feel like I'm reading childrens books to my brother all over again and can visually see the big cheese moon with a smile on, singing a song to everyone. omg. Nicely written. Drachke

Hahaha! That was a fun poem. It makes me want to crawl onto my roof at 3 AM to see the moon. Hmmm......not a bad idea. =) Lovely poem, great job!

Very easy to read fun poem.
It actually brought back memories of childhood... not in the poetic sense, but in the emotional sense.
It hit me right in the heart... Gordon

This is so positive and warm . It reminds me of when I felt safe still living at home and admittedly found beauty in all that surrounded me. I don't know a lot about poetic mechanics and theory, but I like its form - it flows very well. :o)

What a lovely little rhyme. So light and happy. I could see this on bookmark or something. :) With a little expansion and possible revision, it would make a lovely picture book. Well done, Norma!
