First Date

First Date

A Poem by Norma J. Jessee
"

For My Granddaughter Logan

"

Not  knowing,

And feeling tension

rise inside

you,

Till you feel

you're gonna

burst.

Heart races,

at each knock

at the

door.

Disapointment,

Finally tears,

When you

realize

he is'nt

coming.

Wow, that's sad, but so very true. Unfotunatly I can relate. My boyfriend at the time wasn't very good at remembering that we made plans, I hated that it always made me feel awful fo a while afterwards. He'd call say he was sorry, I always thought he would change, so each new knock at the door I was hopeful and always let down. Thank God I still don't spend my nights waiting! This is really good, I like it. It speaks the truth that a lot of people can relate too! Great job on this poem! Thanks for sharing!

ha ha I like this poem. :D very funny.......I cant say I remember my first date.... becuz I never been on a date in my LIFE!!!!!! ha ha I never had... but I have learned that in today's world. Hanging out is a date, when a girl says lets hang out it really is a date...haha so nevermind so I guess I have been on plenty of dates. :D great piece

Well Norma,
it can't really be your first date if he never showed up now can it.
Sort of a practice run or something.

I love the way my anticipation was dashed reading the poem... just like yours was as you waited for your first date. This was very well done.

By the way, Norma, here's a poem about my "Last Date"
It's called Neon and took place 25 years ago... It literally was the "Last Date" I have ever been on, except for my wife, that is. She knows all about it too.

Wow! What a great description of the tension and agonizing wait of a classic stand-up! I could feel the pain and the disappointment coming off of the words. Great job!

Very smart. I have to say that when I read this, I felt the emotions described. Nicely written!

This is a cute small poem. slyly witty and it has got a twisting ending. I liked it.

It wasnt meant to be!

This is simple, yet decriptive in structure. The anticipation, the build up and the let down, all wrapped up in a few verses.

Sad, but effective poetry. Well Done!
