Lordy Have Mercy

My knees are a shaken like the leaves on a tree,

Lordy have mercy, what's come over me,

My head is a spinnin like a little toy top;

It feels so good I don't want it to stop.

 

IS IT LOVE ?

 

My heart is a beaten, hear it thumpty thump,

And in my throat there's a big ole lump,

My mind doesn't know if it's day or night;

When you're holding me in your arms so tight.

 

IS IT LOVE ?

 

My eyes see things they don't really see,

And my body keeps playing funny tricks on me,

My tongue can't say the things I wanna say;

Lordy have mercy, What a wonderful day.

 

Well it must be love cause I can't see straight,

I can't half hear, and I feel so great,

Yes, it must be love I feel in your kiss;

Cause nothing but love could make me feel like this.

 

I feel like shouting,

Shouting to the heaven's above

Lordy have mercy;

We're in love.

 

Author's Note

I wrote this 39 years ago, when I first met my husband. We were married two days after we met and have been married 39 years. We have 4 children and 12 grandchildren. This was just a fun write. At the time I was feeling all giddy and crazy. Hey, I was in love, now even more so.

Congratulations on 39 years. Most people don't make it that long.
Poem was good...I like the rhymething and how it's upbeat and a little on the fun side.

Me Too and I can relate all of these feelings to my first time meeting my husband.
I love this because i have not written one lik it yet it feels like I was there.
Then the fact that you ask is it love makes me feel like you know you loved him @ first sight but wasnt sure of his feelings as of yet!
