The Broken Heart

In a rundown little room

in Southern Texas.

Sat a young man with tears

in his eyes.

Remembering a soft whisper :

" I Love You"

Now all that was heard,

were his cries.

 

Why will no one but you, Lord

ever love me ?

Why must I walk this earth

all alone?

I tried to do my best, Lord

I've given all I have.

Won't you love me enough to

take me home ?

 

In a dark and dirty alley,

in Southern Texas.

They found him lying there

on the ground.

A sad and lonely life. His face

told it all.

And the note in his hand said ;

"Heaven Bound"

 

Lord, won't you love him enough to

take him home..................?

Working with the homeless, has brought me into contact with several young men, in similar circumstances, They are desperately clinging onto life by their fingertips, sometimes the blessed ones make it! If only they all could!

This is an emotionally vivid, but simple composition, that makes a strong statement.
