Secret Love

Secret Love

A Poem by Norma J. Jessee

Will the hundredth time I see you,

Be the same as three or four ?

Will the next time that I kiss you,

Be the same forever more ?

Will our special situation,

Be the tie that binds us tight ?

Will the light that we both see by,

Light our way through darkest night ?

Will we break the web we've woven ?

Will we fall to earth as clay ?

Will our secret love stay hidden,

As we go from day to day ?

Will we ever wake from dreaming,

And think that we've done wrong ?

Or shall we dream this dream forever,

In our dream world all alone ?

Magic - I love the rhyme, the rhythm, the self-questioning which alternates between a hope that this secret love will continue forever, and a feeling that somehow there is a sense of guilt there. The dreamlike state that this is conceived in both protects the lovers, and provides an apprehension that they may one day awake, and discover that they have done wrong, somehow. Marvellous exposition. I really believe that this is one of the best, all round poems you have written. You go from strength to strength, Norma J. Write on!
(PS - a small typo in line one - hundredth - you missed the 'd').

norma, your words are just about breathtakingly warm, and sensuous, passionate absorbing, impacting
to be read over and over, secret love, the lover in dreams, i love this concept! as you capture such
a classic depiction of wanting, the scenery is hypnotic in way of subtle ethereal envisioning, the
romantic aspect is off the charts, embracing, capturing, soothing, absolute desirously exquisite.

Perhaps writing about it is the only real way of expressing "secret" or "forbidden" love although those questions may never go away. Nicely written. Julian
