The day after tomorrow

The day after tomorrow

A Poem by Jayne Disdaine
"

For my father.

"

Tomorrow starts with a tender, almost bittersweet pause;

Reflection inevitable after today’s light has faded,
Clarity shaded by recollections of my current personal cause.

Dawn is optimum for introspection

Previous doubts, hurts and expectations leave me slightly jaded
but eyes open wide prevent some of the black dogs’ persistent fermentation.

If I could just skip to tomorrow mornings’ ruminations,
If grief and it’s exquisite point had become well rounded with sleep,
I wouldn't have to see you scattered and drifting aimless, from flesh to dust to imagination.

Come the day-afters’ sunrise, I’ll still miss You

Todays’ events won’t finalise my quiet sorrow…
But stab becomes ache, then a gradual creeping acceptance in my attitude…

We all have our season in the sun
These mortal bounds can’t hold us when bodies die and souls crave freedom..
But for today I’m just heartbroken that You’re gone…
