Patriot

Patriot

A Poem by Riley Bray
"

10/13/15

"
I hang from the ceiling
In a room of dirty walls
Ropes cutting into my wrists
As I resist the enemy
On my body lay blood stains
Some fresher than others
While the smell of iron and urine
Surrounds my swollen body

Beneath my dangling feet,
Rats gather,
Hoping to get a taste of my flesh
...Some have already succeeded

For the moment I am not alone
Though I wish that I was
As a strange machine is pressed against me
Volts of lightning shooting through me
They ask questions
But I do not speak

In a desperate attempt for information
They put a wet rag on my face
And burn my eyes with acid
I try to gasp of course
But instead I start a dry drowning

My silence is keeping me alive
But I cant remain so for much longer
I am a prisoner of war
Not quite important enough to rescue

So I await my end
Across enemy lines
Knowing no one will come to find me

...God bless my country...
