I Love You Not

I Love You Not

A Poem by Riley Bray
"

4/1/15

"
They're just words
And yet
They have rendered me useless
Struck
By the penetrating phrase
Known as "I love you"
For it goes straight through me
To another being
Who parades you on their arm
Like beautiful jewelry

My wounds will open
For as your fingers brush against me
I bruise
For still I am waiting for you.
No matter what I try
I simply cannot be happy For your happiness

I am far too selfish,
Too greedy,
Too possessive

So In response
I sting you
With my jealousy
In the same way
You prick me
With "I love you's"
That I cannot claim as mine

I cause you pain,
Try as I do
To restrain myself.
For I still love you
Even when another woman
Has you on her arm

Sad poem. Some poems must be sad though. I enjoyed reading. Thanks for sharing!
