Lickity Split

Lickity Split

A Poem by Riley Bray
"

9/22/14--A Satirical Poem

"

Long lanky strides do shadow mine

For beside every woman

Exists a pig

Cloven feet stomp after ours

After hours

Raising the hair on the back of ones neck

As if it’s breath

Were the same ice

That clogs the space between their thoughts

Do you pause

Or do you run?

You seek to escape while you can

But their skin is turning redder

Because the beast is giving in to its desire

Hearts beat arrhythmically

As they attempt to escape their game of

Cat

And

Mouse

Though they cannot seem to

Do you give up

Or do you go on?

It’s not funny

Humor cannot drive a purpose

You cannot unveil

A monster

In a mocking way

For the pig will always catch the woman

And the pig knows

That it will

Always

Catch

The woman.
