State of Unrest

State of Unrest

A Poem by Riley Bray
"

~~~
"
I take a breath
And around me the world pauses
As if attempting to capture the moment forever
As my fingertips reach out to graze the sky
I'm forced to wonder,
Curiosity gripping my heart
And I think of you,
For my mind is ferocious
And my heart never left your side.
Yet still, I shall remain silent
Lying in wait for the moment
That my body forgets.
For still I am in love,
Which makes me hurt all the more.
What I truly love about this poem is the entire atmosphere this creates, the sudden pause, the sudden feeling of being the center of attention, and the sudden difficulty that I assume comes with the moment as you live it: the difficulty to breathe, and/or the fear of breathing and how it will take you further away from the moment where your memories have taken place in, further away from... well, him. Well done, you express this moment in such clarity that it makes my heart quiver at the thought of it.
Yeah this is one thing that kinda stinks with falling in love, when things don't work out as planned you can be left feeling this way for a long while, but the time will come when it will pass and get better. I like the image of the person stopping and looking up into the sky, it gives it a peaceful feeling yet the person feels anything but peace at the moment, the person reaches up toward it as if she can pull some of that peace into her heart and mind.
Good Job
