Imbecile

Imbecile

A Poem by Riley Bray
"

~~~5/16/14
"
Not until recently
Did I realize
That I have made myself alone.
Even now,
With my decision to write
Instead of speak,
I have hung myself
By the ink of my pen...
Feet dangling,
Soles worn.
Thus I burn,
Ankles shackled like those
Of my predecessors.
The cicadas sing
In the trees above,
My wind-assaulted body
Hanging where my woes reside,
Suspended in the space around me...
Feet dangling,
Soles worn.
