Unconventional Means

Unconventional Means

A Poem by Riley Bray
"

~~~
"
An eerie sounds rings out across
A silent field,
An omen of death.
But the soldiers have already
Given their rational minds
To their country.
They are already gone.
Enemy lines smear their faces
With friendly blood,
And the smell of gunpowder spreads
As the soldiers lay
In their unkempt trenches,
Killing the free-thinking mind
With every day
That kills my hope.
But we can't lose,
Us in the country I was born
We will find any way necessary
To meet a wanted end.
We will murder...
Innocents, those that are guilty,
No one will live.
For if you aren't one of us
Your life
Means
Nothing.
We will massacre our enemies,
And "accidentally" our allies too,
Collapsing from the inside
As we cry out against the injustice
We as a people support,
Paying from our pockets to sustain it.
We'll all rely on them when in a bind
To have us win, despite the casualties.
Fellow humans,
Enemy soldiers.
We'll kill all
Even through unconventional means.
I'm ashamed to be one of them,
For they made me a murderer before my first breath
Was ever taken...
I carry their sins.
Kill me before I kill you.
I want you to live.
