Living Among the Unreal

Living Among the Unreal

A Poem by Riley Bray
"

"
Reality isn't real,
Just as words are not real.
Same as breath is not a thought, but an action.

What we see, what we taste, what we feel
We're fragmented believing in a world that cannot be true.
Same as thought is not processed, but just is.

We've all been lied to
For who can prove that what we believe is tangible
Is truly so?

When the "insane" come forth with wild allegations
Who's to say that he is wrong
And we are afraid to believe in something we cannot understand?

We are shackled to a floor of false beliefs
As the prisoners born from the words of Plato
We sit, contentedly staring at a wall of shadows.

Those artificial people dance across the dank wall,
Forcing us to obey the existence we're shown
For we know not of a thing to rival it.

And we are wrong,
Guilty of trusting a potentially false life,
Embracing knowledge fed to us by the theorists that teach us.
