Life Line

Life Line

A Poem by Riley Bray
"

~~~
"
It must have been fate...
Long fingers met through the kiss of
Soft keystrokes
While softer still
Were rich baritone and mezzo-soprano voices
That reached across boundaries
In hopes of a fleeting kiss
To tide them for another year longer.
Her one, indivisible soul melted
To reveal desire and hearty lust
That grabbed for her spirit
And fought for her "whole"
Under a bright moon sky
Where under the stars they saw the same.
From a sea of foaming words
A dormant goddess lay,
Named possibility
Who brought fate to
A damsel of modern fragility
And a new Adam of Eden's Garden.
It must have been fate...
For two flames ignited
And the oppressive voices sang
It must have been fate.
By just reading this poem, i feel like I'm in love with you! Haha, just kidding. Not about the poem though; your work speaks to the deepest ends of my soul, and makes everything else feel like a blur. Don't get the wrong idea, though@! THIS IS NOT A LOVE CONFESSION! ^_^
Wow! You've outdone yourself Riley, this is an amazing poem! It's fully of compelling similes and metaphors that add layers of rich images to your meaning. Your lyrical style guides the reader to read on, creating a soft flow of words that is both visually pleasing and meaningful. Good job!!!
I find this to be the tale of two elderly lovers fighting both for their love and against death simultaneously, laying on their beds trying to maintain good health and avoid death, hence the first three stanzas and the title; accompanied by the remaining stanzas, I interpret that as the metaphors formulated within their imaginations, making do with the time they have left . . . And fate has united the duo, although for fairly little amount of time. Well done.
