Kissing Butterflies

Kissing Butterflies

A Poem by Riley Bray
"

Its all out on the table now...

"
You look at me with innocent eyes,
Armed with a fresh outlook on life.
And that smile there on your face
Makes me feel unbelievably safe.

You don't know how I think of you
With your happy, energetic attitude
But I doubt that you'd accept my love
Because its unnatural when push comes to shove.

I'm coming out: its time I say
I've wanted you in every way.
I'm a girl who likes girls too
Since being bi is what I do.

So I'm opening up, judge me as I am
Poke me, prod me, grab the cam
I'll sit here atop my bi throne nice and pretty
Happy, wholesome, kind and witty.

I don't care what you think of me
'Cause no matter what I'm still a human being
And the one thing I definitely have over you
Is that I have two times the chances of getting a date than you do.

I love girls and I love guys too. I'm gonna let everybody know now. Take me as I am or get lost, homophobes! It makes me sad to know I'll be losing friends over this but, well, forget you then!

I understand that you are confident in who you are, but why lump those of us who know the Creator made separate genders for a divine purpose as -phobes? that seems kind of ignorant or intentionally hurtful. Poetry is poetry. I really like the fact that you offer legitimate criticism on our poetry. i truly appreciate people who do that and are not afraid of hurting others feelings. How can we better ourselves if we cannot accept other help and insight? But, wouldn't be weird if i went around make sure to tell everyone that hey I am a straight person. Just saying. I enjoy, your poetry and feel your true talent. Just one man's opinion.

You won't be losing me, that's for sure. And good for you for coming out and saying it. Plus it's very true: You have twice the chance of getting a date. Hehe. XD
A very nice, deep poem as usual. You always seems to hit the exact spot. I think the topic is fantastic. I think that fact that you're bisexual gives even more of a meaning to the poem, and I think the way you portray the fact so opening and with a touch of humor makes it so much more beautiful. You kind of like "Look, I love you, and I'm bisexual, and if you don't want me, well, you know what? I'm sorry it has to end this way but I have the rest of the population to chose from while you have somewhere around 50%."
Very well written.

Well thanks for letting us know! Ahaha. Well, what I mean to say is, I'm glad you told us :) It takes some pretty good courage to go out and say something like this. I don't believe it's fair that you're losing friends over this, but that's just how society and people are I guess. I really enjoyed the poem, by the way though, thought I'd add that in here haha. I myself, completely accept people for who they are, where they're straight, homosexual, bisexual, and anything else out there. That's just how I was raised, and even if I wasn't I believe that I'd still be pretty accepting.
Anywho, good poem and great job!

You're losing friends over this? I don't even know you in person and I wouldn't dream of turning my back on you. Anyway, I love this poem! The last line made me laugh, because it's so blunt, yet so true. Excellent work, and it's awesome to see you telling it how it is and standing up for yourself.

Haha thanks Kuro. xP
It is beautiful that you are honest with yourself, harder to admit this to others, perhaps less so here on WC, but in real life, it may be ... I have friends who, despite being adults for many years, will still not admit what is to me, perfectly clear... Sad, to live that way, so I am happy for you. And hope it is true, twice as easy to get a date:). Hopefully not twice as hard, to decide who to love...

I find myself a pansexual. It's becoming quite common, and the only frowning upon it comes from the irrational (whom, unfortunately, are the majority). Although this strays away from the general announcement of the poem, I daresay, I love your beginning. Armed with the psychological, perhaps a personality, and not with the engineering for sexual reproduction. You've done well, and you're mighty brave for admitting this. Don't let the Republicans or the Christians or the Catholics or the irrational scientists sway you, Riley; bisexuality exists in the most advanced animals and is frowned upon in only one. Scientifically speaking: dwarf chimpanzees, whom are humanity's closest relatives (to my knowledge) are bisexual as a species; heterosexuality is rare, but generally still accepted.
Stay true to yourself is all I can say.
