When I die Young

When I die Young

A Poem by Riley Bray
"

Take me with you, Amaterasu, I'll burn in the paws of the okami fire god.

"
Let me die young
Up in smoke
And down in flame

I spit at this reality
For what fun is there
In growing old
With those you've never met?

Let me die young
Up in smoke
And down in flame

You may worship this brutality
With guns and fists and swears
But people are cold
So what's the point in dragging out what will inevitably end?

Let me die young
Up in smoke
And down in flame
And worst of all...
Absolutely in love,
And incredibly sane.

Your poetry always makes me so reminiscent of the kinds of thoughts I had at sixteen/ seventeen, when dying young was such a magnificent thought, I did write poems like this one... And I love those last two lines... Absolutely in love, and incredibly sane... How much did and do i know how to feel this way...
And you will meet them Riley, many many of them... A Lovely poem, as always...
